Fayetteville Observer editor Leclercq promoted to national GateHouse role

Leclercq, who has been with the Observer since 1999, will become national news editor based in Austin.


Fayetteville Observer executive editor Matt Leclercq has been promoted to national news editor for GateHouse Media, the newspaper’s parent company.

In his new position based in Austin, Texas, Leclercq will develop, implement and oversee national content strategies among the company’s 156 daily newspapers and 195 weekly publications, said Steve Dorsey, vice president of news performance and partnerships with GateHouse’s Center for News and Design. Leclercq will work with the center’s leadership team to grow national coverage and best practices across all platforms, Dorsey said.
